The attorney Pedro Baracui joins the team of partners at Cesnik, Quintino, Salinas, Fittipaldi e Valerio Advogados. With his arrival, CQS/FV starts to provide legal advice on environmental and sustainability issues, in a preventive and contentious manner. Heading the Environmental Law areas, Pedro worked at the law firms BMA and Marchini Advogados, in addition to directing the sustainability area at Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional. Recently, he started to integrate his experience into the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) agenda of companies.

“CSQ/FV is an incredible law firm, absolutely contemporary and cutting-edge in everything it does. It has partners who are on the frontier of legal knowledge in areas that have a lot of synergy with my practice, which is very important for the area of ESG. With many changes happening now and yet to happen, the time is perfect to consolidate environmental and sustainability practice with the face of CQS/FV and my experience in law and in the corporate world.” – explains Pedro Baracui.

Environmental and social concern for a sustainable future

Environmental Law is an area in constant evolution and critical for companies whose activity can generate impacts. Appropriate management in line with regulations guarantees security for the operation of companies, avoiding risks and responsibilities. The ESG criteria also cover social and governance aspects and have become a sustainability requirement for the market, consumers, employees and, progressively, regulators; indicate how sustainable a company is, taking into account measures on greenhouse gas emissions, waste management, use of natural resources, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, employee well-being, among other points. The new area of CQS/FV emerges in a context of market transformation, in which companies and investment funds must adopt a position based on environmental, social and governance criteria such as those mentioned.

With 25 years of solid trajectory, CQS/FV adds to its portfolio one more legal advice based on excellence, composed of different services related to Environmental Law – management of contaminated areas, waste, conservation units, etc. – and sustainability.

“With the arrival of Pedro, we are taking an important step for CQS/FV to act with an emphasis on the environmental area and on planning for sustainability. For the firm, it represents the possibility of serving clients with quality and guiding them to follow environmental standards, comply with the rules for the necessary certifications, and have environmental compliance as an essential part of their planning.”- says Fernando Quintino, partner at CQS/FV Advogados.
